* What is power system?

--- In electrical engineering Power System is defines as an interconnection of various electrical components for supplying the electric power, generating electric power and transfer of electric power.

*Block diagram of power system :

--- Block diagram of the power system is given as :

* Process for generation of power :

--- Various places have different resources and techniques for the generation of electric power such as :

I . Hydropower station.

II . Thermal-power station.

III . Nuclear-power station.

IV . Other renewable resources.

--- The major concentration of the power system is on the ac power. Because of AC power use in very large scale in today’s world.

* Need of the power system :

--- It makes electrical system cost efficient, more safer and economical.

* Concept of AC transmission :

--- In an AC transmission the step-up and step-down phenomenon can be done by the transformer.

---   It can be done by the following steps :

Step I: Generation: In the process of generation, the electrical energy is generated from the resource. In the process of generation, the transformer steps up the voltage such that the increase in voltage compensate the losses occur during the process of transmission.

Step II. Transmission: In the process of the transmission the electrical signal get transmitted by the transmission lines.

In the process of transmission, the transformer steps down the voltage.

Step III. Distribution: In the process of distributing,  the electrical signal gets distributed to the load.

In the process of distribution, transformer steps down the voltage.
